Landscapers  Got Frozen Palms?

UF Palm experts have been asked to provide a program on how to properly care palms.  Patterned after a popular videoconference in previous years (Dead Palms Tell No Tales), this program can be offered locally via teleconference if there is sufficient interest.   Due to the continuation of the cold weather, UF palm specialists Dr. Monica Elliott and Tim Broschat will discuss problems associated with cold weather and what can be done about these important parts of our Florida Yards.

The half day conference is scheduled for Monday March 8, 2010.  Registration begins at 9 AM for this free program, and will conclude at noon at the end of a question and answer session.   The local Extension office must have at least 5 pre-registrations  by Monday March 1 in order to offer this program.  Pesticide applicators may be eligible for license CEUs for attending this program.

Attendance is limited to the first 30 persons who register. Please contact Extension secretary Monica Markham by calling 763-6469 or sending an email to Extension agent Dan Culbert indianco@ufl.edu, giving your name, address, telephone and license number.  Persons who do not have licenses may contact this office to learn about other programs available to obtain a Florida Pesticide applicator license.

For more information, contact the Okeechobee Extension office at 863-763-6469.  A flyer with more complete information about this program is available on the Okeechobee web page, http://okeechobee.ifas.ufl.edu.  Local residents can stop by our office at 458 Hwy 98 North in Okeechobee.  Go Gators!
