State
Butterfly Coordinators are individuals who can verify and
report new county records for butterflies. If you have a
photograph or a specimen of a butterfly that you believe to
be a new record, contact your state's coordinator. Note:
Please do not include large photo attachments in your
initial e-mail. Also, do not expect an immediate reply, as
coordinators often receive hundreds of requests during the
busy season. Florida’s contact: John

A year and a half ago, AWRA partnered with FAU to
install a beautiful butterfly garden as a student service
learning project for FAU’s Hispanic Youth Leadership
Students from Okeechobee. Now the garden is literally
blooming butterflies with over 40 species found. Students
have counted up to 20 species at one time Atala Butterfly
Club of South Florida counted 535 butterflies and 42 species
in just one day while walking our nature areas!
