Here's a newsletter story about the 2006 year's camps:

Water, Water Everywhere! - Two hundred and five youth participated in the Environmental Day Camp in Okeechobee County this summer. The campers’ experiences included a day at “Old Posey’s Dairy,” where Okeechobee Extension Services partnered with South Florida Water Management, Okeechobee Landfill, Inc., and PBS&J, to give an enlightening presentation on the importance of uplands and wetlands and aquifers in Florida . The campers spent a day at Phil Foster Park , where they learned about the science of H2O.  This was followed by visits to the Orlando Science Museum , ice skating, Cypress Gardens , and on the last day, Disney’s Blizzard Beach . The H2O Encounter Day Camp is funded by a grant from Children’s Services Council of Okeechobee County, SFWMD, and assistance from Okeechobee County School Board. The program resulted in an average increase in knowledge of how water relates to the environment by 92% on the post-test scores.

Campers need to turn in a 4-H participation Form AND a H20 Registration Form.  Please contact Debbie Clements or Audrey Driggers at 863-763-6469 for more information!
